BIrth-My Girl by The Temptations
I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day.
When it’s cold outside I’ve got the month of May.
I guess you’d say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin’ ’bout my girl (my girl).
I’ve got so much honey the bees envy me.
I’ve got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees.
I guess you’d say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin’ ’bout my girl (my girl).
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Ooooh.
I don’t need no money, fortune, or fame.
I’ve got all the riches baby one man can claim.
I guess you’d say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin’ ’bout my girl (my girl).
I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day
with my girl.
I’ve even got the month of May
with my girl (fade)
I chose this because I have five brothers. I really am my parent’s girl..the only one in fact. Also, as I quote in my movie, my dad said I was sunshine when I was born, even though it was raining outside. This relates to the first line: “I got sunshine..on a cloudy day”. This song is upbeat and soothing too, just like my life when I was little.
World- September by Earth, Wind, and Fire
Do you remember the 21st night of september?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds awayOur hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were
singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night awayBa de ya – say do you remember
Ba de ya -
dancing in september
Ba de ya – never was a cloudy dayMy thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart to see you
Only blue talk and
love,
Remember how we knew love was here to stayNow december found the love that we shared in september.
Only blue talk and love,
Remember the
true love we share todayBa de ya – say do you remember
Ba de ya -
dancing in september
Ba de ya – never was a cloudy dayBa de ya – say do you remember
Ba de ya – dancing in september
Ba de ya – golden
dreams were shiny days
I chose this one because I figured my world started really blooming in September, the month after I was born. I like this song because it reminds me of happy memories with my older brothers, which my world is really all about. Also, the repetition of remebering makes me rememeber all my favorite experiences.
Call: District Sleeps Alone Tonight by Postal Service
Smeared black ink… your palms are sweaty
And I’m barely listening to last demands
I’m staring at the asphalt wondering what’s buried underneath
Where I am
Where I amI’ll wear my badge… a vinyl sticker with big block letters adherent to my chest
That tells your new friends I am a visitor here…
I am not permanent
And the only thing keeping me dry is
Where I am
Where I am
Where I am
You seem so out of context in this gaudy apartment complex
A stranger with your door key explaining that I am just visiting
And I am finally seeing
Why I was the one worth leaving
Why I was the one worth leaving
D.C. sleeps alone tonight
Where I am
Where I am
Where I am
You seem so so out of context in this gaudy apartment complex
A stranger with your door key explaining that I am just visiting
And I am finally seing
Why I was the one worth leaving
Why I was the one worth leaving
Where I am
Where I am
Where I am
The district sleeps alone tonight after the bars turn out their lights
And send the autos swerving into the loneliest evening
And I am finally seeing
Why I was the one worth leaving
Why I was the one worth leaving
Why I was the one worth leaving
Why I was the one worth leaving
This song has a lot to do with refering to the world as this temporary place. Discovering why I am here, and where I am.. My call to help my younger brothers is so that I can help creat good people out of them..but find who I am and where I am going at the same time.
Supernatural Aid: You got a friend in me from Toy Story
You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you’re miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
Just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got troubles, well I’ve got ‘em too
There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you
We stick together and we see it through
You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
Some other folks might be
A little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too
Maybe
But none of them will ever love you the way I do
It’s me and you
And as the years go by
Boys, our friendship will never die
You’re gonna see
It’s our destiny
You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
I love this song! And really this is what the supernatural aid is all about, being there, for everything. Reallly just having my back.. at my low points and my high points.
Belly of Whale- Gravity by Jon McDonald
The Ways Of This World Are Grabbing A Hold
won’t Let Me Go, Won’t Let Me Fly By
it Takes It’s Toll Down On My Soul
?ecause I Know What I Need In My Life
don’t Let Me Lose My Sight Of You
don’t Let Me Lose My Sight
i Don’t Want To Fall Away From You
gravity Is Pulling Me On Down
i Don’t Want To Fall Away From You
gravity Is Pulling Me To The Ground
this World Keeps Making Me Cry
but I’m Going To Try, Going To Try To Fly, Going To Fly High
don’t Want To Give Into The Sin, Want To Stay In You ?etil The End
don’t Want To Lose My Sight Of You
don’t Want To Lose My Sight
i Want To Fly
into The Sky
turn My Back On This Old World
leave It All Behind
this Place Is Not My Home
it’s Got Nothing For Me
only Leaves Me Emptiness
and Tears In My Eyes
This song reminds me of my mom. We had a lot of seperation when she got sick, when the lyrics say ” I don’t want to fall away from you” I was think about how I wanted to stay close with my mom. I rememeber always trying to stay in touch with her, even though…she was at the hospital.
Road of Trials: Fifteen by Taylor Swift
You take a deep breath and you walk through the doors
It’s the morning of your very first day
And you say hi to your friends you ain’t seen in a while
Try and stay out of everybody’s way
It’s your freshman year and you’re gonna be here
For the next four years in this town
Hoping one of those senior boys will wink at you and say
“You know, I haven’t seen you around before”
‘Cause when you’re fifteen and somebody tells you they love you
You’re gonna believe them
And when you’re fifteen feeling like there’s nothing to figure out
Well, count to ten, take it in
This is life before you know who you’re gonna be
Fifteen
You sit in class next to a redhead named Abigail
And soon enough you’re best friends
Laughing at the other girls who think they’re so cool
We’ll be outta here as soon as we can
And then you’re on your very first date and he’s got a car
And you’re feeling like flying
And you’re momma’s waiting up and you’re thinking he’s the one
And you’re dancing ’round your room when the night ends
When the night ends
‘Cause when you’re fifteen and somebody tells you they love you
You’re gonna believe them
When you’re fifteen and your first kiss
Makes your head spin ’round
But in your life you’ll do things greater than
Dating the boy on the football team
But I didn’t know it at fifteen
When all you wanted was to be wanted
Wish you could go back and tell yourself what you know now
Back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday
But I realized some bigger dreams of mine
And Abigail gave everything she had to a boy
Who changed his mind and we both cried
‘Cause when you’re fifteen and somebody tells you they love you
You’re gonna believe them
And when you’re fifteen, don’t forget to look before you fall
I’ve found time can heal most anything
And you just might find who you’re supposed to be
I didn’t know who I was supposed to be at fifteen
Your very first day
Take a deep breath girl
Take a deep breath as you walk through the doors
This has soo much to do with my first high school experiences, which is my road of trials. I think it explains how I felt perfectly freshman year.
Apotheosis- Don’t Worry, Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin
Here is a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don’t worry be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don’t worry, be happy……Ain’t got no place to lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don’t worry, be happy
The land lord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don’t worry, be happy
Lood at me I am happy
Don’t worry, be happy
Here I give you my phone number
When you worry call me
I make you happy
Don’t worry, be happy
Ain’t got no cash, ain’t got no style
Ain’t got not girl to make you smile
But don’t worry be happy
Cause when you worry
Your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So don’t worry, be happy (now)…..
There is this little song I wrote
I hope you learn it note for note
Like good little children
Don’t worry, be happy
Listen to what I say
In your life expect some trouble
But when you worry
You make it double
Don’t worry, be happy……
Don’t worry don’t do it, be happy
Put a smile on your face
Don’t bring everybody down like this
Don’t worry, it will soon past
Whatever it is
Don’t worry, be happy
This song really is about chilling out and being happy with yourself. Staying content…not stressing or overreacting, just being happy.
Boon:YOu and I both by Jason Mraz
Was it you who spoke the words that things would happen but not to me?
All things are gonna happen naturally
Oh, taking your advice and I’m looking on the bright side
And balancing the whole thing.
Oh, but at often times those words get tangled up in a lines
And the bright light turns to night
Oh, until the dawn it brings
Another day to sing about the magic that was you and me
Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just read of
Others only read of, of the love
Of the love that I loved
lova lova!
See I’m all about them words
Over numbers, unencumbered numbered words;
Hundreds of pages, pages, pages for words.
More words than I had ever heard, and I feel so alive.
Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just read of
And if you could see me now
Oh, love love
You and I, You and I
Not so little you and I anymore
And with this silence brings a moral story
More importantly evolving is the glory of a boy
Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of (of, of)
And others just read of
And if you could see me now
Well, then I’m almost finally out of
I’m finally out of
Finally deedeedeedeedeedee
Well I’m almost finally, finally
Well I am free
Oh, I’m free
And it’s okay if you had to go away
Oh, just remember that telephones
Well, they work out of both ways
But if I never ever hear them ring
If nothing else I’ll think the bells inside
Have finally found you someone else and that’s okay
Cause I’ll remember everything you sang
Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of (of,)
And others just read of
and if you could see me now
Well, then I’m almost finally out of
I’m finally out of
Finally deedeedeedeedeede
Well I’m almost finally, finally
Out of words
This song is about “The feeling in you” which is what the boon, I think, truly is. It is your interself coming out to benefit the world! I know it is kind of lovey dovey but i think love is part of my gift. It talks about finally being free to share with new and other people…looking to bring new love.

My birthday is 8-8-91. So I decided to go on my journey to seek eight medicines. I researched this number at http://www.ridingthebeast.com/numbers/nu8.php and discovered that the Egyptians believed the number 8 is the number of balance, which, in this journey makes complete sense. My objective was to find the medicines that would balance me out with my strengths and expand my possiblities….I saw my birthday as a sign of how many medicines I would need for this balance. When deciding which medicines I needed I pondered what my strengths were…. I first thought of my strength of perservence…which lead me to persevere in find eight of characteristics I need to improve these being:
Courage. I find myself a lot of the times sitting back when people push me down…this applies not only to lacrosse, but also my life dreams…sometimes others feel the need to tell me I’m wrong or I can’t do it….but with the medicine of courage I can fufill my destiny by standing up for myself, not allowing others to get in my way.
Humor. It is not necessarily that I am a serious person, but I feel I need to learn to laugh at some things. I can take things too serious…I think just from past experience I’ve become a stiffer person, but the medicine of humor is a remedy that could let me laugh, glide through the hard times.
Joy. With the stress of the world, whether it be school, sickness, death, and other hardships it can be hard to find joy. I find the characteristic joy of great importance because without it, you cannot live a fufilled life. Everyone needs to feel that happiness. This medicine can bring goodness to my journey.
Heart. Heart is love. Love is the ultimate healer. This, I believe is crucial to any person’s hero journey..although I do have love in my life, I feel like there is always, always room for more. Heart is what keeps your blood pumping, it is the determination between life and death. Your heart is significant to living.
Patience…like everyone says…patience is a virtue. I think this is the area I lack the most. It is extremely difficult for me to be patient. I find it aggravating to wait, and wait, and wait. I am always looking at a watch or a calendar, hoping for the next event to come around…when in a hero’s life, you must stop to smell the roses….you must be patient and let things fall as they may…or you may miss a life changing oppurtunity.
Strength. I take this both physically and emotionally. Physically I am weak….though this can be helped out through exercise. Emotionally, though, I feel I am weak sometimes too. I admire those who remain strong all the time.. It is one medicine I wish I could have more of. I need the mental strength to move past criticism, emotional strength to move past difficult trials.
Humility. I think it is safe to say that we could all be a little more humble….to be grateful for what I am, not always to want more. Remeber I am lucky for the life I live.
Insight. This, I have a true need for….but it may take time. I feel like it takes many experiences to gain insight..and I envy those who have it. The medicine of insight could help me see the world from a clearer point of view.
With these eight characteristics added to my own, my process can be complete. I believe my destiny may be fufilled with the help of these qualities to create the ideal, balanced person…..Now all I have left is to discover what that journey truly is.

Position Paper: Strengthen Neighborhood Security
I am Reggie. I currently reside on Berenger Lane, in the quiet neighborhood of Buckhorn. According to the “Buckhorn Directory”, the annual residence information booklet, the neighborhood is composed of approximately fifty-six families, two ponds, and a swimming pool. Buckhorn is very well considered a standard Carmel neighborhood, with the exception of one particular issue, an increasing crime rate.
I have lived in Buckhorn for over ten years now. Growing up I always saw the neighborhood as my safe haven to run and play, but unfortunately my picture perfect ideal was deleted from my memory after this past summer. On the night of June fourteenth 2008, a robber paid a visit to Berenger Lane. The next morning my brother awoke to find his red 2000 suburban broken into. Three hundred dollars were stolen in goods, such as a graphing calculator, skateboard, and spare cash. My parents immediately phone Carmel Police Department to file a police report. When the policeman arrived, I was shocked to be informed that five other break-ins were reported in Buckhorn in the past two months. A few days later an e-mail was sent out by Connie Simpson, the Buckhorn President, explaining a pool vandalism incident including trash strewn across the lawn chairs, dirt kicked in the pool, and a broken table.
With the fury of the past events in my mind, I stand in firm believe that neighborhood security needs to be strengthened in Buckhorn. A neighborhood watch should be implemented, a security gate built at each entry way, and a Carmel Police officer patrolling the neighborhood each weekend.
A neighborhood watch system can be defined by the National Neighborhood Watch Institute as, “an organized group of citizens devoted to crime and vandalism prevention within a neighborhood”. When looking at the Grad of Grad, Committed to Doing Justice one can only agree with a neighborhood watch policy. This policy would ensure citizen security. Buckhorn residents would use individual responsibility to stop crime by reporting any suspicious behavior. A neighborhood watch system is a project consisting of little to no money. Not only is it inexpensive, but it has proven to be effective in several places. The City of North Plains Neighborhood Watch, started by Mayor Cheri Olson in 2003, has noticed an increased awareness of car jacking and other similar crimes in the neighborhood. A few meetings a month could help spread awareness. Although awareness of criminal activity must be known, it is hard to say if this method shows any drastic change.
A iron gate could create a large crime rate decrease. While I will be the first to admit mechanical and technological tools do have their downsides, I truly believe a security gate would powerfully deter criminals from coming into Buckhorn. According to Ed Blakely, a Professor at the School of Urban and Regional Planning, over eight million Americans find refuge behind gated communities. Strong iron gates with a code for entry may be difficult to climb, and along with a neighborhood watch, a felon climbing could easily be caught in the act. Although gate maintenance is inevitably costly, one cannot put a price on the security of others.
A group of member with the upholding believe in the security of others is The Carmel Police Department consisting of 4 Lieutenants, 9 Sergeants and 48 Patrol Officers according to the Carmel Police website. These men and women are devoted to crime prevention. If Buckhorn could arrange to have an officer patrol the neighborhood on Saturday and Sunday nights, I believe many robbers would be frightened to do any malicious deeds. The Carmel Police Department is a authoritative force in Carmel that could easily catch any felons wondering Buckhorn.
America is based on the principle of keeping its citizens safe. Buckhorn has been violated through previous instances; therefore, strong security measures must be implemented. While I agree that actions such as neighborhood watch, gates, and police involvement can be costly and time consuming, I see these tools as a crucial way in assuring my family and neighbors safety. To allow devious criminals into Buckhorn sends shivers down my spine. I can only see these ideas be acted upon so that Buckhorn may be restored to its secure and content state.

Hi.
My lacrosse team is doing kickboxing for our preseason training. Let me tell you, it is not easy. Last week I found myself huffing and puffing the entire time! We punch air, touch our knees to our chins, and kick our legs out in front and in back. It is exhausting.. I thought it was fun, at first, because I just made up my own routine, but then my coach grabbed my arm and pulled me to the front so i could watch the instructor….so much for individuality. I still did my own thing though..Coach seems to think I’m just goofing off, but I like to express my emotions. Anyway, I strongly suggest everyone try this aerobic activity, it gets your heart rate up and it’s not too bad. I promise you won’t be let down!

Yesterday was a SNOW DAY! it was about time! I woke up at ten twenty which was just great. My little brothers had the day off too, so we turned on some jams and did a bunch of trendy dance moves. I went to ask my mother if i could go out in the snow with friends, but she would not let me. Ma wanted me to stay home and clean the house with her, like that was what i wanted to do on my day off!…but when Mom fails I just call Pa. He stated the roads weren’t bad. I was able to go out and sled, and I only got two bruises! I lucked out..except for the time when I used this kids snowboard and tried to go down the hill. I failed…after sledding I went home and stared at the ceiling. Yesterday was truly a great day.

The weekend always seems to come at the best times. It is wonderful to have a few days off to sit and relax….EXCEPT…when your parents enroll you in a class every saturday and sunday at 8 am for 4 and half hours! Today I had the oppurtunity to awaken at the crack of dawn( at least it seemed so) to go take a practice SAT test.. It was miserable; however i found enjoyment in watching the kid next to me try to fix the table cloth i kept pushing closer to the edge of the table during the test. I’m just glad it is over with, so that I have the rest of the day to relax, but boy I can’t wait for tommorrows class! Please take note: I still have three grueling months of this.
Uncategorized | Comments (6)Snow Day
So friday, everyone else in indiana was able to have a snowday, and although it is already said and done, im not letting it go because i really think we shouldve had one…not only because everyone else deemed it necessary that school was closed, but also because the roads were just icy and slippery and bad. Sledding would have been an option, but since we had school we were sitting on bleechers while everybody else in america got to throw snowballs and make snow angels.
